On September 26th the Centre for Aboriginal Initiatives kicked off the 2013/2014 Speaker Series with its first guest speaker, Professor Jeff Corntassel. Professor Corntassel visited the Centre from the University of Victoria where he is Associate Professor in Indigenous Governance. Professor Corntassel’s talk, entitled “Our Ways Will Continue On: Re-envisioning Indigenous Governance, Leadership and Resurgence”, focused on examples of community-based acts of Indigenous resurgence. Prior to his talk, Professor Corntassel met with Students of the Aboriginal Studies Program for an informal luncheon and discussion period. The Centre for Aboriginal Initiatives and the Aboriginal Studies Program are extremely grateful that Professor Corntassel travelled such a long distance to be a part of our Speaker Series and share his knowledge with us.

The next speaker in the CAI 2013/2014 Speaker Series will be Brent Debassige on Thursday, October 24th 2013.
