The New Indigenous Graduate Travel Award

In a recent UofT News article, SAGE Coordinator, Dhanela Sivaparan, discussed the new Indigenous Graduate Travel Award, which provides up to $1000 in funding for graduate students to participate in experiential learning opportunities. SAGE (Supporting Aboriginal Graduate Enhancement) is a student-led graduate group that aims to provide support, community and resources to Indigenous graduate students at the University of Toronto. Sivaparan saw that there was a lack of funding for graduate students to participate in educational travel opportunities and worked with former CIS director Keren Rice and the School of Graduate Studies to implement the award.  This year, 4 students received this award and Sivaparan says the funding “has made a huge difference for our students who are able to enrich their graduate education.”
